Cleveland College of Art and Design
Cleveland College of Art and Design offer a foundation and BA degree covering ethical fashion.
Foundation degree
FdA Fashion Design and Production: a new course with several modules covering ethical fashion. At Level 1, students look at offshore trading and manufacturing issues, and ethical fashion in 'Introduction to the Fashion Industry'. In 'Design for Industry' previous students sourced and made fashion from Fairtrade materials and staged a catwalk show during Fairtrade fortnight. Visits may also cover ethical issues such as to the Eco Fashion exhibition at Bradford.

Undergraduate
BA Fashion Enterprise: Level 1 studies included Graduate Fashion Week Recycling competition (we were one of the winners) and a forecasting project that looked at the trend for ethical consumerism. A live project, Tesco Tweenagers, looked at the delicate balance of making fashionable garments for 10 - 14 yr olds that were ethically aware and did not sexualise them. Level 2 included a live project on ethical menswear for local fashion and lifestyle retailer Psyche. Students design their own projects and many include an ethical context - these including organic sportswear. At Level 3 students were encouraged to tackle the Ethical RSA Design Directions briefs and several of our students remodel old clothes and sell them as part of their enterprise activity.
