Student Placement Training
Fashioning an Ethical Industry run training sessions for students who are interested in working conditions in garment manufacture and are about to go on, are currently on or have been on a work placement. The training is open to any students regardless of whether their placement has an explicit focus on 'ethical issues'. Through the training, students will gain a deeper understanding of issues faced by garment workers and efforts being made to improve conditions and enable them to share their experience with other students on work placements.
For information about the next FEI Placement Training please go to the fei events section of the website.
Student Placement Guide
Fashioning an Ethical Industry have produced a handbook for students to work through before, during and after student placements to help them understand working conditions and what's being done to improve them.
The handbook is about working conditions in the fashion industry. It's full of questions for students to explore before, during and after their placement, whether it will be for a small company, a high streeet brand retailer or an organisation working to improve working conditions in the fashion industry. These questions will give students the background knowledge to ask about things they see on their placement, and to interpret what they learn.
For a copy of the workbook, contact Hannah at Fashioning an Ethical Industry hannah_(at)_fashioninganethicalindustry.org (replace _(at)_ with @) or 0117 944 1700.
To view all student placement opportunities go to the opportunities with other organisations and companies section.
Fashioning an Ethical Industry circulates information about placement opportunities with organisations and companies that give students the chance to, amongst other things, learn more about working conditions in the garment industry and efforts being made to improve conditions.
Please contact us if you are able offer an opportunity to students.
Information about the placements available, how to apply and the selection procedure can be found in the opportunities with other organisations and companies section.
The placement opportunities offered on the FEI website are the responsibility of the organisation or company offering the placement. FEI will not be involved in the recruitment process or be responsible for expenses incurred or health and safety of the student.
