Tutor Training: Initiatives to improve working conditions

This session is open to all tutors and teaching support staff and will explore initiatives to improve conditions for garment workers, consider what more needs to be done to ensure workers' rights are respected and look at how best to teach these issues. It will take place at Northumbria University in Newcastle. The session will include a workshop run by Fashioning an Ethical Industry and Javier Cercoles (Inditex) & Neil Kearney (ITGLWF) 'in conversation' on 'New Approaches to Global Social Compliance – the Zara Story'. The session will take place on the 19th November between 11.30 - 5.00 (lunch will be available).

This session is part of a week of activities being organised by the University of Northumbria in Newcastle about ethics in fashion.  It will be followed by an inaugural lecture by the newly appointed professor of ethical fashion at Northumbria, Doug Miller.
