Jewellery/Product Design Placement in Swaziland, Southern Africa

Manzini Youth Care (MYC), an NGO based in Swaziland, Southern Africa, is looking for a volunteer designer to come and work for their new project Eswatini Crafts. Eswatini Crafts produces handmade ceramic jewellery such as earrings, pendants and beads and elegant home decorations, made from recycled glass. The recycled glass home decorations include candle stick holders, coasters and bed side lights created from wood/metal as well as beads.

They would like to engage an international designer to create new and innovative designs for their products. The placement will last for 3- 6 months (flexible) and all accommodation and living expenses will be covered.

Eswatini Crafts is a new project being run by Manzini Youth Care. The project targets marginalized single women from peri urban communities around Manzini.  Apart from looking after their own children the women are taking care of other orphaned children left behind by relatives as a result of the HIV and Aids pandemic. The project pays what they believe to be a fair wage for their work, economically empowering them to build better lives. For more information see the Manzini Youth Centre website.

Eswatini Crafts are looking for a BA graduate or MA in jewellery/product design or similar. For more information please contact Linda Bwititi on bosco@realnet.co.sz
