DESIGN BRIEF: Sustainable Design Awards

Students sometimes find it hard to decide on a project design brief. They also have problems getting feedback on their designing and making from suitable stakeholders. The Sustainable Design Awards (SDA) website is designed to help. The six textiles design contexts are intended to give students possible starting points from which to develop their own design briefs, or take the given context as their starting point. The context cards available on the SDA website when flipped over, give further information to help students find out more. They also provide links to stakeholders such as People Tree and Howies, who have helped develop the contexts and may be able to provide support via  the given contacts. Tutors can use other parts of the SDA website with students to develop their understanding of how sustainability issues relate to design.
