BA (hons) Fashion
Students took part in a Fairtrade Dress project involving the design and make of garments for a Fairtrade Fashion Show in collaboration with Birmingham City Council as part of "Fairtrade Fortnight" in March 2007. Students were given a presentation about the meaning of fair-trade and key issues and also a presentation by the speaker Rubana Ahmad from the company Ethika. Students were asked to find out what fair trade meant and what fair trade clothing is already available. They were asked to make a visual report on four fair trade companies. The students then used fair-trade cotton fabric in their own designs and final outfit.
Some of the students designed garments for a competition run by the company Ethika.
